As someone who’s spent decades guiding clients through the ins and outs of homeownership, I always keep an eye on where equity truly makes a difference for families. Recent data highlights that in 10 states, homeowners’ equity often matches or even surpasses their net worth. For example, in Hawaii, the average homeowner holds $600,000 in equity compared to a net worth of $692,700. California isn’t far behind, with $550,000 in equity and $273,800 in net worth. These numbers are a strong reminder of just how significant homeownership can be for building long-term financial security. Helping clients understand and grow this kind of equity has been a cornerstone of my 27 years as a full-time REALTOR, always with a focus on integrity and professional service.
